Project 7: Women and Environment Project

Project area:

- Artvin, Rize, Trabzon, Bümühane, Bayburt and Giresun Provinces, Black Sea Region, Turkey

- Berlin, Germany

Objectives of the project: The general target of the project is to strengthen mutual understanding and interaction by an effective dialogue in order to carry out awareness raising activities towards women about sustainable and ecologically sensible consumption and production methods and appropriate use of natural resources.

Project work packages:

- Organizing an International Conference on "Gender Equality and Environment"

- "The EU and Environment" and "The EU and Gender Equality" seminars.

- Organization of International Activity Visits

- Establishing an Eco-Community for Women and Environment

- Reporting the project results and making future plans

- Visibility and promotion

- Project Monitoring and Evaluation

Results of the project:

- Women's initiatives in non-governmental organizations relating to solving environmental problems will be developed.

- Women's role in the active implementation of environmental policies will be empowered.

- A lively and colorful platform of dialogue on "women as those who influence the environment" and "women as those who are influenced the environment" will be created between the EU and Turkey.

- A series of integrated seminars, workshops, networks, conferences and other supportive activities about preserving the environment and nature will be organized to increasing women's capacities and skills.

- Efforts will be taken to ensure that a higher awareness and understanding about the European Union is provided in the Black Sea Region which has been the least related with EU activities.

- A strong EU synergy will be created through the support provided by the EU to the project group within the scope of supporting non-governmental organizations in Turkey and by providing NGO awareness regarding the EU institutions and their operations.

- Organizational capacities of the members will be increased in the international, national and regional levels through the "European Communication Network for Women and Environment". Civil involvement will be strengthened by contribution to the development of a well-structured, lively and colorful culture of dialogue among CSOs.

- Distributing project activities, methods, results to those who are not directly involved in the project through various methods including brochures, local Tvs, radio shows, promotional products and conferences so that the project is introduced to everybody.
